Our History

Two Bikes is a nonprofit bike shop and community center founded by Mitchell Connell and Matthew Zingg in Knoxville, Tennessee.

In 2016 the national nonprofit, DreamBikes, opened a new location in the heart of downtown Knoxville with a goal to provide affordable transportation options and youth workforce development. The Knoxville location showed unprecedented success, but in 2020 the board of directors decided to close the organization nationally.

In 2020 Matthew Zingg and Mitchell Connell decided they wanted to continue their work at DreamBikes and by April of 2021, Two Bikes was opened as a way to turn their values into action. Travis Jolly was hired in early 2021, and the team of three maintained the nonprofit for the first 18 months. Since then Two Bikes team has grown and the organization has taken off within the Knoxville Community. It continues to provide meaningful job training to underserved youth, free and affordable transportation options, and engaging community bike rides.
